Adult Truths

This is one of those random lists that you receive during the day from friends/family.  I thought this one was quite amusing and did ring true in some cases.

Adult Truths

1. I think part of a best friend's job should be to immediately clear your computer history if you die 

2. Nothing sucks more than that moment during an argument when you realize you're wrong. 

3. I totally take back all those times I didn't want to nap when I was younger. 

4. There is great need for a sarcasm font. 

5. How the hell are you supposed to fold a fitted sheet? 

6. Was learning cursive really necessary? 

7. Map Quest really needs to start their directions on # 5. I'm pretty sure I know how to get out of my neighborhood. 

8. Obituaries would be a lot more interesting if they told you how the person died. 

9. I can't remember the last time I wasn't at least kind of tired. 

10. Bad decisions make good stories. 

11. You never know when it will strike, but there comes a moment at work when you know that you just aren't going to do anything productive for the rest of the day. 

12. Can we all just agree to ignore whatever comes after Blue Ray? I don't want to have to restart my collection...again. 

13. I'm always slightly terrified when I exit out of Word and it asks me if I want to save any changes to my ten-page technical report that I swear I did not make any changes to. 

14. I keep some people's phone numbers in my phone just so I know not to answer when they call. 

15. I think the freezer deserves a light as well. 

16. I disagree with Kay Jewelers. I would bet on any given Friday or Saturday night more kisses begin with Miller Lite than Kay. 

17. I wish Google Maps had an "Avoid Ghetto" routing option. 

18. I have a hard time deciphering the fine line between boredom and hunger. 

19. How many times is it appropriate to say "What?" before you just nod and smile because you still didn't hear or understand a word they said? 

20. I love the sense of camaraderie when an entire line of cars team up to prevent a jerk from cutting in at the front. Stay strong, brothers and sisters!

Shirts get dirty. Underwear gets dirty. Pants? Pants never get dirty, and you can wear them forever. 

22. Sometimes I'll look down at my watch 3 consecutive times and still not know what time it is. 

23. Even under ideal conditions people have trouble locating their car keys in a pocket, finding their cell phone, and Pinning the Tail on the Donkey - but I'd bet everyone can find and push the snooze button from 3 feet away, in about 1.7 seconds, eyes closed, first time, every time. 

24. The first testicular guard, the "Cup," was used in Hockey in 1874 and the first helmet was used in 1974. That means it only took 100 years for men to realize that their brain is also important.   Ladies.....Quit Laughing.

Flip Flop (or just Flop)?

As some of you have seen on Facebook, after six long months of waiting for the seller's bank to approve the loss on the place we were purchasing in Las Vegas, it finally happened last week.  That meant we were on the clock to finish our due diligence in 10 days and needed to get an inspection.   Because I found out the power had been off in the unit for the entire Vegas summer I was concerned about how it was fairing in 115 degree weather without AC (we've heard stories of paint melting off the walls in similar situations) and decided to be on-site to see any problems with my own eyes.  While there I decided to look at another unit which had just recently come on the market with a floorplan that I thought we might like better.  Turns out I was right about the floorplan in addition to the fact that it would require considerably less remodeling than our original unit to be ready for move-in.  The second unit would allow us to furnish on day one rather than call a contractor on day one.  Downside was slightly more money and not quite as good a view because it was lower in the building.   After some quick phone discussion between Seattle and Vegas we decided to make an offer for this new unit on the spot.  We were still under the due diligence period on our first unit, so as long as we cancelled prior to the end of that time we would not have any penalties nor end up owning both.

Long story short, we are flip floppers (or maybe just floppers since we didn't flip back).  After living on the edge for a few days with contracts on both places, we decided to keep the second unit and cancel the first.  Here are some pictures of the new place which should close on October 15th:

Goodbye Katy Perry and your "California Gurls".  Kylie Minogue's American premier of "Get Outta My Way" is my new favorite summer tune.

...and she looks freakin' fantastic...for being my (real) age.

If you like dance albums, the Aphrodite album is quite good.   She is a top selling artist globally, but has never much broken through the US audience (except for the gays).  Maybe this will be her time.

Seattle's sunless summer

Aside from what purports to be a very warm couple of days this weekend, I'm not crazy.  This has been a fairly sunless summer and I have science to back me up.  Since July 10, we've had an average of 9 hours of low cloud cover per day compared to the normal 1.6 hours.

Get out there and enjoy the sun while it's out because statistics are against you!

New Website Section: On Biking

In an effort to spare my non-cycling Facebook friends from having to partake in all my biking escapades, I have created a new section on my website specific to cycling which I have spared from automatic Facebook posting.  

In this new section I have started a database of sorts of what I find to be some of the best rides around the area as well as some of the best routes I find to get from place to place.  I have started using MapMyRide.com to keep track of those routes and will embed maps with the postings as appropriate.
